I've been an outdoor writer and columnist for years - I've even blogged for The Olympian newspaper, where I still work.
But this my first independent blog, so I'm dipping my toe into a new ocean.
This blog will celebrate the outdoors -- especially the watery part of our watery planet.
I'm a passionate angler, surfer, skier, snowboarder, hiker, boater and camper, and I spend most of my time on, near or in water.
I'm still a columnist and reporter for The Olympian newspaper, which is located in Olympia, Washington.
You've guessed it -- Olympia, located on the Puget Sound, is a watery place!
Here's my stuff for The Olympian. I write an anything-goes outdoor column that is published on Tuesdays, and I write a fishing column for Fridays. I also write quite a few outdoor stories.
I also live part of the time -- mostly on weekends -- in Hood River, Oregon. Hood River is perched right next to the Columbia River.
I also spend a lot of time gallivanting around the Northwest -- and other places -- fishing, surfing, camping and, yes, driving.
I'm also a writer for Suite101.com, and you can link to my stuff here.
My goal for this blog is to write whatever I like, whenever I like. I also hope that all of you - my readers -- comment on what you've read and seen and how you feel.
I also hope you keep coming back.
The photo is of me in a moment of small triumph on a South Puget Sound beach while fly fishing for sea-run cutthroat trout.
Yeah, I fish like a maniac.
More -- much more -- later.
