I've been away for quite a while -- writing a book about fly fishing for sea-run cutthroat trout. And the great people at Stackpole and Headwater Books were kind enough to publish Fly Fishing for Sea-Run Cutthroat, which is now available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and, hopefully, your favorite tackle or book store.
If you can't find the book, pop me an email, and I'll do everything I can to get you a copy.
Readers of this blog and my columns for The Olympian newspaper will find that the book has a similar feel. I do delve into how to find and read good sea-run cutthroat water -- and how to use a tide table to figure out the best times and places to fish.
Sea-run cutts are close to my heart, and they're a truly mysterious, unique trout. The Northwest, British Columbia and Alaska are the only places to find these beautiful, wild trout that love to live in saltwater. Puget Sound is probably the best place on the planet to find and catch these trout -- even though a couple million people live within a short drive.
I hope you'll give my book a shot. I'm already working on a second book, and this one will be about knocking around the Northwest and other fishy spots with a fly rod.
I also promise regular posts -- at least once a week -- for the future. Look for a piece sometime during the next week about fishing Oregon's Owhyee River in September for big brown trout -- and finding lots of fresh onions on the road....
